Case History: Vacuum Pump Components

PIAD is proud of their partnership with MATRX Medical, Inc. which resulted in the development and production of the finest dental suction pump now on the market, the MAXIMIZER.

Working together with PIAD from the earliest design stage allowed MATRX to take full advantage of PIAD's unique chill casting process in the development of this revolutionary pump design.

From the initiation of this project, MATRX had established very tough goals. They wanted to produce a compact, reliable, easy to maintain product which would reduce water usage significantly. All these design features needed to be accomplished while meeting the constraints of cost reduction compared with the current project.

PIAD's engineering worked closely with MATRX to achieve these challenging goals. PIAD's castings of the pump housing, impellers, pump base and manifold provide near net shape configurations that include cast to size holes, diameters, ports and passages. Where finishing is required, the machining stock is minimal and the excellent repeatability of PIAD's chill castings has eliminated fixturing problems on the C.N.C. machining centers.

The MAXIMIZER is subjected daily to highly abrasive materials and operates under variable water conditions. PIAD's A011 aluminum bronze alloy has met these technical challenges with excellent corrosion and wear resistance.

MATRX continues to expand its markets for the MAXIMIZER because it uses only 120 gallons of water daily versus 600 gallons typical with other systems. PIAD's chill castings contributed to the success of the MATRX pump design and provided cost savings through value analysis at the beginning of the design phase.

Let PIAD's Engineered Solutions work for you.
